A team generator for game night, PE class, office tournaments, and anywhere else a group needs fair sides. Paste the names, pick whether you want a set number of teams or a set team size, and the tool shuffles the list before dealing the names out. Because the shuffle happens first and names are dealt in rotation, team sizes differ by at most one, even when the list does not divide evenly.
How the split stays fair
The names are shuffled with the browser's random source, then dealt one at a time across the teams, the same way you would deal cards. Nobody can predict which team a name lands on, and repeating the shuffle gives a fresh arrangement every time. There is no seed to memorise and no way to stack a side.
Choosing your mode
- Number of teams: best when the sides are fixed, like a 4-team tournament.
- Team size: best when pairs or small groups are fixed, like a 2-per-team cooking challenge.
- Uneven lists: extras spread one per team, so no team ends up short by more than a single name.
